Introduction

We have commissioned short films, created a series of expert talks and uncovered archives of early film footage to help tell the story of the Sikhs in WW1.

  • Short films

A series of short films, including the first-hand experiences of WW1 veterans, documentaries and an animated music video, that offer new perspectives on how Sikhs experienced WW1.

  • Archive footage

This collection of archive footage shot in England, France and across the Middle East from 1914-21 provides fascinating insights into the lives and experiences of the Sikh and other Indian troops during the ‘war to end all wars’. It includes a rare clip of the first Sikh to fly for the Royal Flying Corps (which later became the Royal Air Force).
