Several of our volunteers trawled through an illustrated weekly magazine called 'The Great War', which chronicled in great detail major developments during the war.

These bad boys combed through 200 issues in just 2 days - no mean feat.
Jaunty angle, big smile
It was well worth it though, as they found some very interesting pictures, images and stories.
For example, they found a picture of King George 5th, dressed as an Indian cavalryman, giving a speech addressing the Indian troops in 1914 with a quote saying "I knew you would heed my call".
